The Library of Extraordinary Things from Our Very Own Extraordinary Library

There’s an entirely extraordinary world awaiting you at our very own Elmhurst Public Library. And believe it or not, we’re not talking about the extraordinary world of reading. No – we’re talking about the Library of Extraordinary Things. Many library patrons and Elmhurst residents are unaware of the many items they can check out from the library.

Here’s a list of just a very few of the many, many items you can borrow (lists are not comprehensive – just a sampling!).

Adventures. No need to buy a membership to the zoo or museum. Our library has passes you can check out! Visit the website to find out which museums and other attractions are available. Check with the library for availability as there are limited passes for each location.

Culinary Cupboard. You really have to check this out (pun intended!) to get a feel for the very large number and variety of kitchen items available.

Tech. Before you invest in expensive tech or pay for something you need for just one use, borrow from the library. You won’t believe the many tech items you can borrow – even WiFi hotspots!

  • Cameras and photography accessories, including backdrops
  • Access to
  • Assistive Technology iPads

Creativity. These are just a few of the items you can check out. We’re not even getting into the Makery in this post, although you should get into it soon if you like to create. We’re talking 3D printers, button makers, soldering equipment, t-shirt makers, embroidering and engraving machines, and so much more!
