Before we know it, the school buses will be replacing the icecream trucks as kids head back to school. While many schools are still determining what school is going to be like for the 2021-22 school year, families are starting to gather school supplies.
Here are a few resources we thought might be helpful as families prepare for a return to school.

Keeping up to date on school information can get complicated. If emails aren't keeping you connected, try your school's social media accounts. Also try searching for family/parent groups, like York's York Parents Facebook group or the Sandburg Families Facebook group. These groups are typically private groups only accessible to families of current students.
From rulers and notebooks to the new world of technology and handsanitizer, families are starting to hit the stores for school supplies. If you didn't pre-order a kit from school, you may be searching for supplies. Whether you order on Amazon (check Amazon smile to have some of your profits benefit a local charity!) or stop at Target, supplies can add up. One fun tip is to check Goodwill. They often have brand new notebooks and ruled paper as well as slightly used binders and other supplies, reducing the cost of your school supply budget if your student doesn't insist on brand new supplies.
If you've waited too long and cannot get your child in for a physical, many local pharmacies, like CVS, offer physicals and vaccinations. Additionally, while it might be hard to get into your eye doctor for required vision screenings, Lenscrafters usually can schedule your child within a week.
Starting the year off organized can set your student (and you!) up for a more successful, peaceful year. Some articles that include great tips for organizing your students include:
